Flash[ing] at sunset

‘Deliverance’
An unexpected one – which goes without saying for most of my images – but particularly ‘unexpected’ as I didn’t set out to do a happy dynamic ‘multiplicity’-type picture, as a result it doesn’t fit anywhere in my current series but I just went with the flow.
Whilst working in the evenings I always glance across at sunset over the house and feel agitated that I’m not shooting something with the red and orange brooding sky. Tuesday evening I forced myself out into the garden with some fabric from a shoot I did aeons ago and Matthew set up a simple speedlight with shoot-through brolly and I started spinning round, inspired by thoughts of human strength and fitness.

I’ve been pretty quiet for awhile, Nat. Busy life now-a-days. But you have a way of always reeling me back in. Two comments on two posts in one day!
This gives me another one of those visceral feeling. Very similar to Heatstroke, but an altogether different nerve that has been struck. I even quite like the bottom one very much. Are you sure it is just an outtake?

You in your photographs always ups the intensity of the image. You are your greatest asset. I love this and all your self images.

Love them both, but I agree, the last one is quite alluring.
I especially love the way the fabric appears like swirling smoke around your lower legs, the feeling seems contra to the others- you standing still while the “smoke” moves.
beautiful.

This series reminds me the atmosphere of some Zdzislaw Beksinski’s early works… check it out:
