How disgusting?

There seems to have been a number of artists experiencing appalling cases of copyright infringement, someone in the latest line being Lara Jade, a self portrait of whose (an image made when she was 14) was used by a pornographic film company.
Lara has tried to approach the company but received rude, pathetic responses. I hope that posting this on my blog will raise awareness about the improper use of this image, and if you have any advice for Lara about what to do, please help. Read about it and comment with any advice on her Flickr page

I sent an email to yahoo tech advisor Christopher Null with a link to Lara’s flickr post;he seems to write about legal problems with the internet, tech, etc. He said he’d see if he could write something this weekend. We should keep an eye on his blog

Have Ms Jade contact the Texas state Attorney General’s office to lodge a complaint. ( http://www.oag.state.tx.us/ ) Make sure she explains the picture use is a copyright violation, and emphasize the picture being used on an explicit adult video is of a 14 year old. I hope her the best.

I read about it on her page and about tore my mouse in have in anger. Some of these photo-thiefs are really brazen these days. Rebekka had soemthing similar; except the company was selling prints of her work with no credit or renumeration.

Don’t call a lawyer, call the cops. You were 14, not 18 Ms. Jade, and too young to be in a porn ad/cover. Once they are prosecuted by the state you will be able to sue them more easily. The reason, I suspect, that the lawyers are cool to representing you is that they are not at all assured of a easy win. After all, lawyers eat their own kill. If you can get the cops interested, with a willing D.A., then your chances will improve markedly. Then you should work the news, and also contact Feminist and Religious groups to write letters of support to the local D.A., newspapers, teevee news, etc. Good Luck.
